Winter blues have officially hit, the holidays are over and I swear it’s actually gotten colder since New Year’s has passed. The only way for me to get through these cold times is to daydream about summer, and my favourite summer daydream happens to be music festivals!
I know it may seem a bit early, but if you don’t get a jump start on tickets and planning you will find yourself living vicariously through your friends instagram pictures this summer. Even the biggest music festivals are agreeing with me this year. Coachella’s lineup for 2016 was announced Monday and Sasquatch isn’t far behind with a release date set for January 11th! Now the biggest question is always, which one of these two festivals am I going to attend?!
It always comes down to these two. Coachella because, well, it’s COACHELLA, everyone wants to say they’ve been at least once! Arguably the biggest festival in North America, it runs for three days on two weekends in August. Boasting a great lineup with unique headliners almost no other festival has.
If you are thinking how can Sasquatch even compete, then clearly you’ve never seen The Gorge. The most beautiful, natural amphitheater you could imagine. Pair that with an awesome lineup, only a 7-hour drive and you’ve got yourself a pretty awesome Memorial Weekend. What it really comes down to is what you want out of the festival. Coachella has turned into this spectacular event bursting with celebrities, photo-ops, and fashion. Even the hotels turn into malls for the weekend! You will be guaranteed to see headliners there that aren’t at any other festival. But because Coachella is so big, it draws 99,000 people each weekend, which makes getting to the front row nearly impossible and costs almost on the crazy side! With Sasquatch you are in the middle of nowhere, sleeping in a tent, going four days without a real shower because all you care about is that amazing band you are about to see!
Although Sasquatch might not have the biggest buzz-worthy headliners, they always seem to snag the new, upcoming headliners that everyone will regret missing the next year. Although my mind is pretty made up at this point, I’ll have to wait until Monday for my official decision!
Oh! And don’t hold what I said about fashion at Coachella against me. No matter what festival I attend I’ll be bringing my best festival style either way!
